The United States International Trade Commission has made a final ruling on the industrial damage caused by aluminum tableware

On April 11, 2025, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) voted to make an affirmative final ruling on the industrial injury in the anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation of aluminum tableware imported from China. It is determined that the products involved claimed to be dumped and subsidized caused material harm or threat of harm to the domestic industry. Based on the affirmative final ruling of the ITC, the United States Department of Commerce will issue anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders for the above-mentioned products subject to the investigation. At the same time, the ITC made a negative final ruling on the emergency situation in the anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation of aluminum tableware imported from China.

This ruling involves products under the United States customs code 7615.10.7125. On June 6, 2024, the United States Department of Commerce launched an anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation. On March 4, 2025, it made a final ruling on anti-dumping and countervailing duties.

From the perspective of the aluminum processing industry chain, the production of aluminum tableware is inseparable from basic aluminum materials such as aluminum sheets and aluminum bars. As a common type of aluminum material, aluminum sheets have good ductility. In the production of aluminum tableware, they may be used to make the main body parts of products such as dinner plates and trays. Aluminum bars, on the other hand, with their relatively high strength, can be processed into parts such as the handles of tableware through machining. Although aluminum tubes are relatively less directly applied in aluminum tableware, in the entire aluminum processing field, aluminum tubes are widely used in various industries, such as the automotive and aerospace industries. Their production processes and technologies have certain commonalities with those of aluminum sheets and aluminum bars, and they also indirectly reflect the overall technical level of the aluminum processing industry. In the manufacturing process of aluminum tableware, the machining link is of vital importance. Through a series of machining processes such as cutting, stamping, and polishing, raw materials such as aluminum sheets and aluminum bars are processed into tableware products of various shapes and specifications to meet market demands. The precision and quality of machining directly affect the quality and market competitiveness of aluminum tableware.

From a global trade perspective, this anti-dumping and countervailingduty ruling by the United States may also trigger the attention and actions of other countries regarding similar trade issues, having a profound impact on the trade patterns of the global aluminum processing and machining industries.
