Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics released the production data related to China’s aluminum industry for January and February 2025, showing a positive overall performance. All production achieved year-on-year growth, demonstrating the strong development momentum of China’s aluminum industry.
Specifically, the production of primary aluminum (electrolytic aluminum) was 7.318 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%. Although the growth rate is relatively mild, the steady increase in production of primary aluminum, as the basic raw material of the aluminum industry, is of great significance for meeting the demand of downstream aluminum processing enterprises. This reflects that the production activities in the upstream of China’s aluminum industry chain are proceeding in an orderly manner, providing a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the entire industry.
At the same time, the production of alumina was 15.133 million tons, a year-on-year increase of up to 13.1%, with a relatively fast growth rate. Alumina is the main raw material for producing primary aluminum, and its rapid growth not only meets the demand for primary aluminum production, but also reflects the strong demand and improved production efficiency in the upstream of the aluminum industry chain. This further proves the continuous progress of China’s aluminum industry in technological innovation and production efficiency.
In terms of downstream products, aluminum production reached 9.674 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. Aluminum, as an important downstream product of the aluminum industry, is widely used in fields such as construction, transportation, and electricity. The increase in production indicates a stable demand for aluminum in these fields, and downstream production activities in the industry chain are also actively expanding. This provides a broad market space for the sustainable development of China’s aluminum industry.
In addition, the production of aluminum alloy was 2.491 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.7%, and the growth rate was also relatively fast. Aluminum alloys have excellent physical and chemical properties and are widely used in fields such as aerospace, automotive, and mechanical manufacturing. The rapid growth of its production reflects the increasing demand for high-performance aluminum alloy materials in these fields, as well as the strength of China’s aluminum industry in the research and production of high-end materials.
Based on the above data, it can be seen that China’s aluminum industry has shown an overall growth trend during the period of January and February 2025, with strong market demand. The production of primary aluminum, alumina, aluminum materials, and aluminum alloys has all achieved year-on-year growth, which reflects the strong development momentum of China’s aluminum industry and the sustained demand for aluminum products in domestic and foreign markets.
