The aluminum processing industry in Henan is thriving, with both production and exports increasing

In the non-ferrous metal processing industry in China, Henan Province stands out with its outstanding aluminum processing capabilities and has become the largest province in aluminum processing. The establishment of this position is not only due to the abundant aluminum resources in Henan Province, but also benefited from the continuous efforts of its aluminum processing enterprises in technological innovation, market expansion, and other aspects. Recently, Fan Shunke, Chairman of the China Nonferrous Metals Processing Industry Association, highly praised the development of the aluminum processing industry in Henan Province and elaborated on the significant achievements of the industry in 2024.

 
According to Chairman Fan Shunke, from January to October 2024, the aluminum production in Henan Province reached an astonishing 9.966 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.4%. This data not only demonstrates the strong production capacity of the aluminum processing industry in Henan Province, but also reflects the good trend of the industry seeking development in stability. At the same time, the export of aluminum materials in Henan Province has also shown strong growth momentum. In the first 10 months of 2024, the export volume of aluminum materials in Henan Province reached 931000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 38.0%. This rapid growth not only enhances the competitiveness of aluminum materials in the international market in Henan Province, but also brings more development opportunities for aluminum processing enterprises in the province.

In terms of segmented products, the export performance of aluminum strips and aluminum foils is particularly outstanding. The export volume of aluminum sheet and strip reached 792000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 41.8%, which is rare in the aluminum processing industry. The export volume of aluminum foil also reached 132000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.9%. Although the export volume of aluminum extruded materials is relatively small, its export volume of 6500 tons and growth rate of 18.5% also indicate that Henan Province has certain market competitiveness in this field.

 
In addition to significant growth in production and export volume, the electrolytic aluminum production in Henan Province has also maintained a stable development trend. In 2023, the province’s electrolytic aluminum production will be 1.95 million tons, providing sufficient raw material support for the aluminum processing industry. In addition, there are multiple aluminum futures warehouses built in Zhengzhou and Luoyang, which will help the aluminum processing industry in Henan Province better integrate into the international aluminum market and enhance the pricing and discourse power of aluminum products.
