Introduction of series of aluminum alloys?

Aluminum alloy grade: 1060, 2024, 3003, 5052, 5A06, 5754, 5083, 6063, 6061, 6082, 7075, 7050, etc.

There are many series of aluminum alloys, respectively 1000 series to 7000 series. Each series has different purposes, performance and process, specific as follows:

1000 Series:

Pure aluminum (aluminum content not less than 99.00%) has good welding performance, can not be heat treatment, strength is low. The higher the purity, the lower the strength. 1000 series of aluminum is relatively soft, mainly used for decorative parts or interior parts.

2000 Series:

Aluminum alloy with copper as the main additive element, the copper content of 2000 series aluminum is about 3%-5%. Is one of the aviation aluminum, it is rarely used in the industry, characterized by high hardness, but poor corrosion resistance, can be heat treatment.

3000 Series:

Aluminum alloy with manganese as the main additive element, the content is between 1.0%-1.5%. It is a series with better rust-proof function. Good welding performance, good plasticity, non-heat treatment, but can be hardening strength by cold processing. Commonly used as liquid products tank, tank, building processing parts, construction tools, all kinds of lighting parts, as well as sheet processing of various pressure vessels and pipes.

4000 Series:

Aluminum alloy with silicon as the main additive element, usually with a silicon content between 4.5%-6.0%. High silicon content with relatively high strength, is widely used as building materials, welding materials, mechanical parts, forging materials. It’s not only has good corrosion resistance and heat resistance, but also has a strong wear resistance, and low melting point.

5000 Series:

Aluminum alloy with magnesium as the main additive element, magnesium content between 3%-5%. 5000 series aluminum with high elongation and tensile strength, low density and good fatigue resistance, but can not be heat treatment, can be hardening strength by cold processing. Commonly used for handle, fuel tank catheter, body armor, also used for bending, is a widely used alloy aluminum alloy in industry.

6000 Series:

Aluminum alloy with magnesium and silicon as the main additive element. The surface has a cold treatment process, medium strength, with good corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, good welding performance, good process performance, good oxidation coloring performance, 6063, 6061, 6061 are widely used on mobile phone. Which the strength of 6061 is higher than 6063, using casting molding, can cast more complex structure, can make parts with buckles, such as battery cover.

7000 Series:

Aluminum alloy with zinc as the main additive element, the hardness is close to the steel, 7075 is the highest grade in the 7 series, can be heat treatment, is one of the aviation aluminum, its surface can be heat treatment, with strong hardness, good wear resistance, and good weld-ability, but the corrosion resistance is very poor, easy to rust.
